Dr. Philip Anloague is the founding owner of Orion Physical Therapy and serves as Associate Provost for Graduate Academic Affairs at the University of Dayton, where he also directs the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He was the founding Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and has 27 years of experience in clinical practice and higher education.

Dr. Anloague specializes in spine rehabilitation and sports medicine and serves as a Special Consultant for the Indiana Pacers. He is also a Research Consultant for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and Philadelphia 76ers. His research interests include sports injury prevention, spinal anatomy, neurodynamics, and rehabilitation of shoulder injuries.

Dr. Anloague holds a Doctor of Health Science degree from the University of St. Augustine, is a board-certified Orthopaedic Specialist, and a certified manual therapist. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cleveland State University and a Master of Physical Therapy from Andrews University.

Dr. Frederick Azar is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. He is Chief of Staff at the Campbell Clinic, as well as Professor and Director of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Azar previously served as the team physician for the Memphis Grizzlies for 22 seasons and was selected the 2012 Team Physician of the Year. He is a former President of the NBA Physicians Association and a current consultant to the NBA. For more than 25 years, Dr. Azar has volunteered with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, where he served as President, Treasurer, and Board Member at-Large. He is currently Senior Director for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Co-Chair of the ALSAC/St. Jude Board of Directors and Governors, in addition to maintaining an active role in several other national and international professional societies.

Dr. Bedi’s research focuses on sports medicine innovation, with over 400 peer-reviewed publications. Dan is also a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where his research at the Badger Athletic Performance Lab focuses on patellar tendinopathy and the use of advanced imaging and biomechanics to assess knee health. He was named NBA Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2013.

Wright also served as President of the National Basketball Strength & Conditioning Association and chaired the NBA Combine anthropometric and performance testing committee for six years.

Isaiah Wright is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Utah Jazz. Wright joined the Jazz during the 2012-13 season as a strength and conditioning intern, served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2013-2015, and head strength and conditioning coach from 2015-2024.

The Salt Lake City native previously spent seven years (2005-2012) with the franchise working with the team’s equipment staff as a team attendant before joining the strength and conditioning staff.

Wright, an executive board member of the NBSCA (National Basketball Strength Coaches Association) has served the last 5 seasons as the Western Conference Representative to his colleagues in the NBA.

Wright, a graduate of the University of Utah and the College of Health (Exercise and Sports Science), excelled in computer technologies and found a passion for the utilization of new technological devices in conjunction with strength and conditioning/applied sports science.  Wright actively participates in mentoring and networking events for the College of Health to continue to give back to his alma mater and the Salt Lake City community.

Wright is an avid outdoorsman that enjoys hiking, trail running, snowshoeing, and spending time with family and friends. Wright lives in Holladay with his wife, Kelsey, daughters Amina and Luiza, and their dog, Ocie.

A significant portion of his practice involves treating elite collegiate and professional athletes with sports-related groin injuries.

A nationally recognized leader in surgery, Dr. Brunt has served as President of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the Central Surgical Association, and the Fellowship Council overseeing advanced GI surgical training. He has also authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Dr. Brunt has received numerous honors, including the Distinguished Clinician Award from the Washington University School of Medicine, the Philip J. He formerly served as Chairman of the NBA Research Committee and currently serves as the Medical Director for the Mubadala Citi DC Open and Montgomery County Public Schools. He consults for the Baltimore Ravens and NFL Players Association and has served as Senior Orthopedic Consultant for the Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, and Medical Director for the Washington Capitals and Washington Nationals.

Dr. Douoguih has also been an assistant team physician for the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Angels, and Anaheim Mighty Ducks. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery with a subspecialty in sports medicine, specializing in arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Dr. Benton Emblom is a sports medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon at Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham. He is co-founder of the Andrews Hip Center of Excellence and a board member of the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI).

He focuses on hip preservation and reconstruction, including arthroscopic treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral repair and reconstruction, and mini-open repair of core muscle injuries. He serves as team physician for Auburn University, the University of Alabama, and Samford University, and actively contributes to clinical and biomechanical research through ASMI. He has authored numerous research papers and book chapters on topics related to orthopaedics and sports medicine.

Dr. Emblom received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic residency at UAB Hospital, and completed a sports medicine fellowship with Dr. James Andrews at ASMI. Juwan Howard is an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets. He joined the Nets’ staff ahead of the 2024-25 season after serving as the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Michigan, the previous five seasons (2019-24). While at the helm in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines compiled an 87-72 record, which included trips to the Sweet 16 (2022) and Elite Eight (2021) in the NCAA Tournament and a regular season Big Ten Conference championship. At the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, Howard earned National Coach of the Year honors. Before his stint leading Michigan, Howard spent six seasons (2013-19) as an assistant coach with the Miami Heat. During his tenure, Miami made three postseason appearances, including securing an Eastern Conference championship in 2014. He joined the coaching ranks after a 19-year (1994-2013) NBA career, where he was a two-time champion (2012 and 2013) as a player for the Heat. In 1,208 career games with Washington, Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Houston, Charlotte, Portland and Miami, Howard recorded averages of 13.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 30.3 minutes per game. Selected fifth overall in the first round of the 1994 NBA Draft by Washington, Howard earned an NBA All-Rookie Second Team nomination in 1995 and achieved an All-Star appearance and All-NBA Third Team honors in 1996 as a member of the Bullets. The Chicago native played three seasons (1991-94) at the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the famed “Fab Five” and helped lead the school to back-to-back Final Four and national championship game appearances (1992, 1993). He employs whole-body biomechanical and neuromuscular assessments to measure the effects of resistance training on basic muscle properties such as the force-velocity relationship and force-length relationship. Additional research interests include optimizing training load for performance and injury prevention, assessing neuromuscular performance in speed/power athletes, and evaluating the physiological determinants of muscle strength and power for health and fitness.

Erik Phillips is Vice President of Performance Healthcare with the Utah Jazz. In this position, he leads the Jazz Performance Healthcare program addressing sports performance, injury management/rehabilitation, return to play protocols/programming and directly communicates with front office, coaching staff, and team physicians. During his first season with the team, Erik and the Jazz athletic training staff were named co-recipients of the 2019-20 Joe O’Toole/David Craig Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award, which is nominated and voted on by all members of the National Basketball Athletic Trainers Association.

Prior to his time with the Jazz, Erik worked as Assistant ATC for the Denver Nuggets from 1998-2004 and Head Strength & Conditioning/Assistant ATC of the Phoenix Suns from 2004-2009. He also assisted the Colorado Avalanche from 1999-2003 with minor league call-ups during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Phillips came to the Jazz after spending two years with Athlete Health First as their Director of Performance, consulting with teams and elite individual athletes utilizing integrated manual therapy and designing injury management and performance programming. Prior to this, Phillips managed and owned two facilities in Denver, Colo., from 2009-2017: SportXcel, which catered to youth, collegiate and professional athletes and MuvLab, which specialized in adult fitness and post-physical therapy/return to activity programming. He also helped found the SportXcel Youth Fitness Foundation, a non-profit which helped provide fitness equipment and physical education programs for low income and STEM schools in Denver Public Schools. He was the medical director for the 2012 Women’s NCAA Basketball Final Four and attended the 2012 London Olympics as a performance consultant for Egypt Track & Field. He served as an ATC concussion spotter for the NFL during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and certified as a performance enhancement specialist (PES) and corrective exercise specialist (CES) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Phillips received a master’s degree in injury prevention and performance enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and did his undergraduate at Colorado State University, where he was in the student athletic training program and ran track and cross country from 1993-98. Additionally, he’s coached over a dozen athletes to international status in bobsleigh, weightlifting and skeleton. He has also served as Performance Director for multiple professional soccer clubs with a combined nine championships. A consultant to Premier League and World Cup rugby teams, he prepares athletes for the NFL combine and works privately with NBA players.

Dr. Young has a PhD in biomechanics, an MSS in Coaching Science, and a BS in Exercise Physiology.

Dr. Jessica Zendler is the Director of the Sports Science practice at Rimkus, an international scientific and engineering consulting firm. She advises organizations on questions of player health, safety, biomechanics, and performance, and the use of sport performance technology to address these topics. She serves as Program Manager for the NBA-NBPA Wearable Device Validation Program, is Co-Chair of the Quality Assessment of Sports Technologies Group at Sports Technology Research Network,

She previously directed the Michigan Performance Research Laboratory at the University of Michigan, where she led research investigating the role of biomechanics in athlete injury, rehabilitation, and performance, the use of technology to evaluate biomechanics in the field, and the effects of footwear and sports equipment on athlete biomechanics and performance.

Dr. Zendler holds a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and an M.S. in Kinesiology and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Kinesiology from the University of Michigan.
